What is Songs on the Frio?

Songs on the Frio is a four-day live music festival that celebrates the art of songwriting in an intimate, listening-room setting along the Frio River in Leakey, Texas. The weekend features award-winning country songwriters, community gatherings, and Hill Country charm.

Where is the event held?

Events take place at multiple venues throughout Leakey, including The Back Porch at the Historic Leakey Inn, Real County Courthouse, Rio Bella Resort, Bent Rim Grill, Frio Pecan Farm, and Rustic 83 Downtown. Each location adds to the unique experience.

Is my ticket refundable?

Your ticket is considered a donation to causes in Real County. All net proceeds are donated.

Is this a family-friendly event?

Yes! Saturday morning's celebration at the Real County Courthouse is perfect for families, featuring live music, delicious food, local vendors, and a heartfelt tribute to veterans and young songwriters. Please note that the Friday night and Saturday night performances are adults-only, offering an intimate listening-room experience with incredible singer-songwriters.

How do I get tickets?

Some events are free and open to the public, while others, like the Saturday evening songwriter showcase, require paid admission. Ticket info and reservations are available on our website here. We have 11 free events and 2 ticketed events fro 2026!

Where can I stay during the event?

Leakey and the surrounding Frio Canyon area offer cabins, inns, and campgrounds. We recommend booking early as accommodations fill up quickly during the event weekend. You can refer to our Plan Your Weekend page for our lodging and dining partners.

What should I bring?

We suggest bringing lawn chairs for outdoor events, comfortable shoes, and your best Texas spirit. Some events are BYOB or have food and drink for purchase.

Is parking available?

Yes. Designated parking is available at each venue. VIP sponsors receive reserved parking for Saturday night at Rio Bella and across the street. There will be greeters to help you find a parking spot. If you need to be transported to the river for the event due to health or medical reasons, please let us know at info@songsonthefrio.com.

How does this event support the community?

Proceeds from the event go toward community-focused efforts in the Frio Canyon. It also features a youth songwriting contest in partnership with Leakey School and honors local veterans.
